The Liberty Bell slot machine with automatic cash payouts was invented by Charles Fey, known as the “Father of slots”, in 1898. It contained 3 spinning reels with 5 different symbols: hearts, diamonds, spades, horseshoes and Liberty Bells. All future slot machines were based on Fey’s Liberty Bell slots.
